Stratford upon Avon Halloween Festival 2013

The Annual Halloween Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon is even bigger and scarier than ever before. Now in its eighth year, the month long festival will once again take place centred around the award winning Creaky Cauldron and Magic Alley in Henley Street from 1 October – 31 October. Taking visitors on a phantasm-agorical journey through the extremely weird and scary world of Dr Thaddeus Bombay and his travelling Halloween Imagiscarium, the festival is an absolute must for those interested in the ghosts, ghouls and everything that goes bump in the night!.

This year the festival is packed with child friendly activities including pumpkin-carving workshops, ghost stories, the world famous Hall of the Pumpkin Father, Midnight screenings at the Stratford PictureHouse and spook-tacular competitions. There will also be street entertainers throughout the 31 day long festival in Henley Street, not forgetting “A Fright On The Town” (The Great Stratford Zombie Shuffle) on October 31st. Great fun for all the family – where you can come dressed up as zombies, witches, cats or whatever you wish….

Adults can look forward to a range of far more terrifying events at night. Jadis Shadows will be presenting Grimm’s Fairy Tales – a newly commissioned adaptation of the Brothers Grimm’s Tales – presented at the Magic Alley Theatre during October in addition to the Phantom of the Opera at the Attic Theatre. Overnight Ghost Hunts and Victorian Séances will be taking place at the Creaky Cauldron, one of England’s most haunted buildings, every weekend in October taking the very brave on a journey deep into the unconscious mind.

You can visit the Pumpkin Father every day in October in his very own Grotto in the world famous Hall of the Pumpkin Father and try your hand at traditional Trick or Treating by telling him a joke – be successful and make him laugh to get a treat, but beware, be unsuccessful and get a terrible fright… or you could take part in the Grand Halloween Competition. “Do you have the Hex Factor?” is back for the third year: tell us your foulest jokes and hexes – & whichever we judge the best (or worst as the case may be) will win an award. It’s a daily competition with the 31 daily winners being entered into a grand draw on All Hallows Eve for the grand prize itself. Open to all ages – allowances will be made for the age!
